Homeowners Insurance Information

What is homeowners Insurance?

Homeowners insurance provides financial protection against disasters. A standard policy insures the home itself and the things you keep in it.

Homeowners Insurance generally is classified as package policies providing financial protection against catastrophic events, such as property damage, fire, personal injury or theft. A standard policy can insure both the dwelling and the articles and/or persons within it. Coverage can even extend to damage caused by household pets.

Though ruination brought about by most disasters is covered, there are some policy exceptions, including floods, earthquakes and poor home maintenance. Separate policies must be purchased for flood and earthquake occurences, however, maintenance-related problems are the sole responsibility of the homeowner.
